The body of the 55-year-old Food Network personality was discovered by her husband in the bathroom of their home. A large quantity of pills was found next to her

New York – Mystery surrounds the tragic death of Anne Burrell, famous chef and beloved face of the Food Network programme Worst Cooks in America, found dead in the bathroom of her home in Brooklyn. She was 55 years old. She was found by her husband, Stuart Claxton, who discovered her body lying on the shower floor on Tuesday morning, several hours after seeing her alive for the last time, around 1 a.m.

A disturbing detail that emerged in the early hours of the investigation was the presence of a “large quantity” of pills around the body: their nature remains unknown, but this detail is fuelling doubts and speculation about the cause of death.

According to the TMZ website, Claxton immediately called 911, but when operators suggested he perform CPR, the chef’s body was already cold to the touch, a sign that she may have died hours earlier.

Causes still to be clarified
The official cause of death has not yet been determined. Rescuers initially reported cardiac arrest, but an autopsy will provide decisive evidence to understand whether it was a sudden illness, an accidental overdose or even a voluntary act.

Meanwhile, friends and colleagues of the chef describe her as a woman full of life, energetic and with no apparent health problems until a few days ago. This description seems to contrast with the scene found in the bathroom, making the circumstances even more mysterious.

Shock in the world of TV cooking
Anne Burrell was one of the most recognisable faces in American television cooking, loved for her energetic and direct style. The news of her sudden death has deeply shaken the world of entertainment and gastronomy, while investigations continue to shed light on what happened in the chef’s final hours.
