Israeli prime minister denies rumours of a limit imposed by the United States. Raid in Tehran kills leaders of the Revolutionary Guards

Benjamin Netanyahu denies that Donald Trump has vetoed the possible elimination of Iranian Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei. In an interview with Fox News, the Israeli prime minister responded to a question about a rumour reported by Reuters that the current US president had set an insurmountable limit on Israeli military action. ‘There are many false reports about conversations that never took place, and I have no intention of going into them,’ Netanyahu said bluntly.

The issue returned to the spotlight after a senior Israeli official told the Wall Street Journal that Khamenei ‘is not off limits,’ suggesting that no target is off limits in the new phase of the conflict with Iran.

Meanwhile, as part of Operation Rising Lion, Netanyahu confirmed the killing of the head of intelligence for Iran’s Revolutionary Guards, Mohammad Kazemi, and his deputy Hassan Mohaqeq, in an Israeli raid in Tehran. ‘We decided to act because we had to,’ the prime minister explained, referring to Tehran’s nuclear programme. “We saw enough enriched uranium for nine bombs. We are attacking their nuclear sites, their commanders, and I can tell you that a few minutes ago we eliminated their intelligence chief and his deputy,” he added.

On the diplomatic front, Israeli Foreign Minister Gideon Sa’ar, interviewed by CNN, reiterated that the goal is not regime change in Iran, but the interruption of the nuclear programme. ‘We do not consider the Iranians our enemies,’ he said, stressing that the threat comes from the regime and its nuclear ambitions.
