Israeli PM denounces investigation as instrumental after being questioned. ‘My collaborators are hostages’
After being questioned as part of the Israeli Qatargate investigation, Prime Minister Benyamin Netanyahu posted a video on Telegram in which he called the investigation ‘political’. In the message, which was also picked up by the Times of Israel, Netanyahu accused the authorities of wanting to destabilise his right-wing government, saying that the interrogation ended quickly, with no further questions after an hour.
The premier also denounced the arrest of two of his top aides, who were allegedly ‘held hostage’. According to Netanyahu, the entire operation is a manoeuvre to avoid the dismissal of the Shin Bet chief and to weaken his leadership.
