A knife attack in Haifa leaves one victim, a 70-year-old man, and four wounded, including a teenage boy and two women. The attacker was neutralized by security guards

A tragic terrorist attack rocked Haifa, Israel’s third largest city, this morning. A man in his early 70s lost his life, while four others were injured, including a teenager and two women, one of whom is in serious condition. Emergency forces from Magen David Adom (the Israeli Red Cross) responded promptly, transporting the injured to Rambam Medical Center for necessary treatment.

Witness account: “He shouted ‘Allahu Akbar’ and started stabbing.”

According to eyewitnesses, the attack took place at the Hamifratz Central Bus Station, a major public transportation hub. A man, reportedly a Druze Israeli citizen with German citizenship, got off a bus and began hitting people with a knife, shouting “Allahu Akbar.” A witness told the Walla website that the attacker began stabbing passersby before being stopped by security guards, who killed him on the spot.

Prime Minister Netanyahu’s condolences and confirmation of the attacker’s identity

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu expressed his condolences to the family of the deceased man, and wished a speedy recovery to the four people injured. Local authorities confirmed that the attack was terrorist in nature, but no additional details about the attacker’s possible motive have emerged at this time.

Local media reported that the terrorist, originally from the Druze community in Israel, also held German citizenship and had lived abroad before returning to Israel about a month ago.
