U.S. President Donald Trump may review military aid to Kiev, raising concerns about Ukraine’s security in the war with Russia

U.S. President Donald Trump is considering suspending or even canceling military aid to Ukraine. The news comes after The New York Times reported that Trump will meet with a number of senior officials, including Secretary of State Marco Rubio and Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth, to discuss future measures regarding the Ukraine crisis.

The main issues to be examined include the suspension of munitions and equipment shipments authorized and paid for during the Biden administration. The move, which could stump the Ukrainian government in its fight against Russian encroachment, has raised concerns among those who know that Russia stands to benefit enormously from any halt in Western aid.

According to unnamed administration sources, the discussion reflects Trump’s concerns about the extent of U.S. commitments abroad, particularly with regard to supporting Kiev in its battle against Russian forces. If approved, this decision would represent a significant shift in U.S. foreign policy, which has so far supported Ukraine with substantial military aid.
