US refuses to co-sign draft UN resolution on Ukraine
Washington will not sign the draft against Russian aggression, supported by more than 50 countries. Uncertainty over timeline
The United States has decided not to co-sign a draft UN resolution on the third anniversary of the Russian invasion of Ukraine, which aims to reaffirm the country’s territorial integrity and condemns Moscow’s aggression. The news was reported by Reuters, according to which the US decision caused surprise among allies.
‘The current situation is that the US will not sign it,’ said a diplomatic source, leaving a veil of uncertainty over Washington’s position. The draft, already supported by more than 50 countries, reiterates the commitment to Ukraine’s sovereignty within internationally recognised borders.
According to Reuters, it is still unclear when the deadline for adherence to the resolution will expire, leaving open the possibility of further diplomatic developments in the coming weeks.
