76-year-old actor found guilty for abuse that occurred on set in 2021: acknowledged responsibility for one of the two women who reported him

Gérard Depardieu was sentenced in France to 18 months’ suspended prison for sexual assault. The 76-year-old actor was found guilty for incidents dating back to 2021, which occurred during the filming of a movie, against at least one of the two women who had accused him of abuse.

The sentence comes after months of investigation and testimony that confirmed Depardieu’s responsibility for part of the charges brought against him. The suspended sentence spares the actor from immediate imprisonment, but it represents a milestone in the court case involving one of the most celebrated figures in French cinema.
