Hamas to Israel and the US: ‘We will only free three hostages, not all’
Tension over ceasefire, Israel ready for all-out offensive
Tensions between Hamas, Israel and the US remain high as Saturday’s deadline for the release of hostages approaches. Hamas spokesman Sami Abu Zuhri said only three prisoners would be released, as envisaged in the first phase of the agreement, but not all of them.
Both Tel Aviv and Washington did not take this statement by the Islamic militia that holds Palestinian power in Gaza well either. Hamas had dreaded the idea of not releasing the hostages scheduled for this coming Saturday, 15 February. These were the initial agreements of the first phase… The second is still in its embryonic stage and given the tensions, anything can happen at any moment.
