EU High Representative stresses the importance of a central role for the EU in the talks

Europe must be an active participant in the negotiations for peace in Ukraine, because without the involvement of the EU and the Ukrainian people there can be no effective implementation of a possible agreement. EU High Representative Kaja Kallas is convinced of this, and in an interview with the European Newsroom she reiterated the need for a unified and visible European position in global decisions.

According to the former Estonian prime minister, the Union has a clearer perspective on the war than those who are ‘far away’, with an implicit reference to the United States. Kallas described the meeting with US Vice-President JD Vance as ‘very productive’, emphasising that Washington demands a clear vision from Europe in order to build a common strategy.
