Hostage exchange in Gaza: four Israeli soldiers released
The second exchange under the ceasefire agreement with Hamas has been completed. Israel will release 200 Palestinian prisoners
Israeli female soldiers Karina Ariev, Daniella Gilboa, Naama Levy (all in their twenties) and 19-year-old Liri Albag were released by Hamas. The four Israeli hostages were transferred to the Red Cross, which supervised the operations.
The release took place in a central square in Gaza City, where the captives had climbed onto a stage set up for the occasion, together with Red Cross representatives, before being handed over. Shortly before, a convoy of unmarked SUVs had arrived at the site to complete the operation.
This release is part of the second exchange under the ceasefire agreement brokered by the US, Egypt and Qatar. In return, Israel will release 200 Palestinian prisoners, including 120 who are serving life sentences, according to Palestinian sources.
