Prime Minister Anthony Albanese condemns the video, investigation is ongoing
A shock video circulated on social media has caused outrage in Australia. The footage shows two Australian nurses threatening to kill Jewish patients. Prime Minister Anthony Albanese called the content of the video ‘repugnant and shameful’, while the Ministry of Health took immediate action, suspending the two nurses involved. Australian media identified the protagonists as Ahmad Rashad Nadir and Sarah Abu Lebdeh, employees of the Bankstown Hospital in Sydney.
Home Affairs Minister Tony Burke also condemned the incident, calling it ‘chilling and cowardly’. New South Wales Health Minister Ryan Park ordered an investigation, which is now underway under the auspices of the police. ‘The whole video, from start to finish, is disturbing. The fact that they did this while wearing scrubs, while they should have been taking care of patients, is cowardly, disgusting and appalling behaviour,’ Park said.
During a press conference, the minister apologised to the Jewish community and reassured the population that ‘the care they receive in our hospitals will continue to be of the highest quality’.
