Spokeswoman Karoline Leavitt announces the Trump administration’s line ready to take the case to the Supreme Court

The Trump administration considers ius soli ‘unconstitutional’ and is preparing to pursue its own legal battle to nullify it. This was stated by White House spokeswoman Karoline Leavitt during her first official press briefing.

According to Leavitt, the presidency is ready to defend this position before the Supreme Court, reiterating the importance of changing a principle that guarantees automatic citizenship to anyone born on American soil. The issue, which has long been at the centre of political debate in the United States, is one of the pillars of Donald Trump’s immigration policy, which aims to limit access to citizenship through new legislative and constitutional restrictions.

The White House did not provide details on the timing and modalities of the appeal, but the announcement confirms the intention to continue along the hard line adopted by the president on immigration.
