Danish Protest After Katie Miller Greenland Post Sparks Tensions
Denmark has voiced concern over a social media post by Katie Miller, wife of Trump aide Stephen Miller, showing Greenland in U.S. colors
Denmark has formally protested following the Katie Miller Greenland post shared on social media, which depicted the autonomous Danish territory painted in the colors of the United States flag. The post was uploaded on X by Katie Miller, spouse of Trump aide Stephen Miller, during the night of the U.S. military operation against Venezuela. The single word “SOON” appeared above the image.
Jesper Moeller Soerensen, the Danish ambassador to the U.S., responded with a post emphasizing Denmark’s expectation for “full respect of Danish territorial integrity” and shared the link to the Katie Miller Greenland post. The ambassador reminded Washington that Denmark and the U.S. are close allies and stressed that Arctic security is a shared responsibility.
This incident occurs amid Trump’s continued interest in Greenland, which he has suggested could be annexed to the United States due to its strategic Arctic location and mineral wealth. The timing of the post coincided with the capture of Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro, which further stirred European allies and added to tensions around U.S. foreign policy decisions in the region.
