The official Sana news agency reports an Israeli air strike on the outskirts of the predominantly Druze city. The raid follows the night-time withdrawal of Syrian troops and violent internal clashes with numerous casualties
The official Syrian news agency Sana has reported a new Israeli raid near the city of Sweida, in southern Syria, an area with a Druze majority.
This is the first attack since the night-time withdrawal of Syrian government forces from Sweida, an operation claimed by Israel following clashes between Druze fighters and Bedouin tribes that left nearly 600 dead, according to an NGO.
According to Sana, “Israeli occupation aircraft carried out a raid on the outskirts of Sweida”, without providing further details on the consequences at this time.
