Donald Trump diagnosed with chronic venous insufficiency: a common and benign condition
White House spokesperson confirms diagnosis after appearance of leg swelling and bruising. Presidential physician reassures public about former president’s health
Donald Trump has been diagnosed with chronic venous insufficiency after the former president reported swelling in his legs. This was reported by Karoline Leavitt, White House spokesperson, who described the condition as “benign and common”.
According to the presidential physician, Trump, 79, suffers from this condition in which damaged veins in the legs fail to properly circulate blood, causing swelling and discomfort.
Leavitt’s statements follow the release of photographs showing bruises on the president’s hands and swollen ankles. The spokesperson explained that these marks were due to mild soft tissue irritation caused by frequent handshakes and the use of aspirin, part of a standard cardiovascular prevention treatment. At present, no other complications or significant health problems have been reported for Trump.
