Israel prepares plan for Palestinian exodus from Gaza Strip
The Israeli government, at the instigation of Netanyahu and Katz, is planning a body for the migration of Palestinians from the Gaza Strip, in coordination with the United States. A complex process, but launched in the coming weeks
The Israeli government is working on the establishment of an entity that will manage the exodus of Palestinians from the Gaza Strip, a plan that has found support from Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Defence Minister Israel Katz. This plan, disclosed by Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich, is conceived in coordination with the Trump administration and envisages Palestinians leaving the region voluntarily, with migration expected to begin in the coming weeks. The plan is described as ‘logistically complex’, but represents a move that, according to Smotrich, will not allow Palestinians to remain in Gaza for the next 10 to 15 years.
In the context of these moves, the Trump administration continues to push for the extension of the truce with Hamas, with US mediator Steve Witkoff visiting Doha to revive ceasefire negotiations. The hope is to extend the agreement until the end of Ramadan (March) and Pesach (20 April). Despite the difficulties, there are signs of openness between Israel and Hamas, and some progress has been made thanks to meetings between US mediator Adam Boehler and leaders of the Palestinian movement, including Khalil al-Hayya.
All without taking into account the opinion of the Palestinians and Hamas, which despite the situation continues to be in control in the strip.
