Fear in the United States alert for a suspicious package on Air Force One containing white powder
Moments of fear in the United States after the opening of a suspicious Air Force One package at Joint Base Andrews, the military base in Maryland that houses the presidential aircraft. Several people were poisoned after coming into contact with an unidentified white powder contained in the suspicious Air Force One package and were then transported to Malcolm Grove Medical Centre in stable condition.
The building where the suspicious Air Force One package was opened was immediately evacuated, along with an adjacent structure. A base spokesperson confirmed that “first responders verified that there was no immediate threat” and that normal operations resumed after the security check.
According to CNN, the white powder is being analysed to determine its nature. The area has been cordoned off with a security perimeter while investigations into the Air Force One suspicious package continue. No direct threat to the president or base personnel has been detected so far.
