The name of the U.S. Secretary of the Navy appears in records connected to the Jeffrey Epstein investigation, with John Phelan on Epstein flight passenger list emerging from documents reviewed by CNN.

According to the broadcaster, the material is part of millions of files related to the Epstein case that have circulated in recent months. The documents include a passenger manifest from a flight that departed London for New York on the afternoon of March 3, 2006.

Among them were Epstein himself and likely French former top model agent Jean-Luc Brunel, a close Epstein associate. Brunel died in 2022 while in custody awaiting trial on charges including sexual assault and the rape of a minor. Phelan has not publicly commented on the report. However, a close friend of the Navy secretary told CNN that Phelan was indeed on the flight, stressing that it would have been the only occasion in which he had contact with Epstein. According to the same source, Phelan was invited to travel by then-Bear Stearns CEO Jimmy Cayne, who died in 2021, and only discovered at boarding that the aircraft belonged to Epstein.
