Tragedy in the Red Sea: a tourist submarine sinks during an excursion. Rescued 29 tourists, including minors. Four seriously injured

A tourist submarine sank today, Thursday, March 27, in the Red Sea off the coast of Hurghada, killing at least six people and injuring nine others, four of them in critical condition. The injured were transported to local hospitals to receive urgent care.

The bathyscaphe, named “Sindbad,” was carrying 45 Russian tourists, according to the Russian Consulate General in Hurghada and reported by Ria Novosti. The accident occurred one kilometer from shore around 10 a.m. during a regular diving excursion to inspect the reef.

Twenty-six people were rescued by local authorities, including some minors. The cause of the sinking is still under investigation, while the news has caused great concern among tourists and local authorities.
