Donetsk, Russian railway sabotaged by Ukrainian partisans: military logistics disrupted
The Atesh group struck a line between Volnovakha and Mariupol, used by the Russians to transport ammunition and fuel to the front
The pro-Ukrainian partisan group Atesh has claimed responsibility for sabotaging a strategic railway line in the Donetsk Oblast, in Russian-occupied Ukraine, compromising the military transport of Moscow’s forces. This was reported by the group itself in a post on Telegram, republished by the Kyiv Independent.
According to Atesh, the saboteurs destroyed a junction box on the new Volnovakha-Mariupol railway, recently built by Russian occupation forces. The attack caused the interruption of rail traffic on that line, considered crucial for supplying the front.
According to the partisans, the railway is used by the Russian armed forces to transport fuel, equipment and ammunition directly to combat zones, making the sabotage a significant blow to Russian logistics in south-eastern Ukraine.
The operation represents yet another act of resistance in the occupied areas, in a context where the war is also being fought behind the lines, through operations aimed at targeting Russian military infrastructure.
