Israel, Katz: “Hamas asked Iran for help in destroying Israel and received $500 million.”
Defense minister releases intelligence document on exchanges between top Hamas leadership and Tehran: “Unmistakable evidence of their support for the Oct. 7 massacre”
Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz has unveiled an intelligence document revealing a series of messages exchanged between Hamas leaders Mohammed Deif and Yahya Sinwar, and the Iranian leadership, demonstrating Tehran’s unequivocal support for the deadly attacks on Israel on October 7. The correspondence, dated 2021, was made public by Channel 12, detailing a request from the Hamas leaders to Esmail Qaani, the commander of Iran’s Quds Force, for a funding amounting to $500 million to further Hamas’s agenda of destroying the State of Israel.
According to Katz, this request was met with approval from the Iranian leadership, who subsequently arranged for a monthly transfer of $20 million to Hamas, totaling $500 million over the course of several years. Katz emphasized that this financial backing directly contributed to Hamas’s ability to carry out its operations against Israel, including the horrific assault on October 7.
The Israeli Defense Minister underscored the importance of this intelligence revelation, claiming it proves Tehran’s active role in supporting terrorist actions against Israel. This document serves as crucial evidence in Israel’s ongoing efforts to expose Iran’s involvement in the regional conflict and its backing of militant groups like Hamas.
As Israel continues its military operations in response to the attack, Katz’s revelation adds further tension to the already volatile situation in the Middle East, highlighting the deep connections between Hamas and Iran.
