Trump revokes Biden’s access to classified information

The president accuses his predecessor of setting a precedent. Meanwhile, a judge blocks the firing of 2,200 USAID employees and the Pentagon reorganises press space

Less than twenty days after his return to the White House, Donald Trump announced the revocation of access to classified information for Joe Biden. In a post on Truth Social, the president justified the decision by recalling that in 2021 Biden had ordered the intelligence community to limit his access to sensitive data after the end of his first term.

Trump also cited Special Prosecutor Robert Hur’s report, which while not indicting Biden for handling classified documents, described him as a forgetful president, unable to adequately protect highly sensitive information. ‘Joe, you’re fired,’ Trump wrote, echoing his famous TV slogan, then concluding with ’Let’s make America great again.’

Usaid suspensions: a judge blocks dismissals

In parallel, a federal court temporarily blocked the Trump administration’s plan to suspend at least 2,200 employees of the US Agency for International Development (USAID). U.S. District Judge Carl Nichols issued a restraining order requiring the agency to reinstate at least 500 workers already placed on leave. According to the court, the administration cannot proceed with further dismissals until further notice.

Pentagon reorganises press space

Meanwhile, the Department of Defence has decided to reallocate media space, excluding some of the major newspapers critical of the Trump administration, including CNN, Washington Post, NBC News and The New York Times. In their place, publications closer to the conservative right, such as One America News Network, Breitbart and The New York Post, were favoured.

Defence Secretary Pete Hegseth’s press office specified that the decision only concerns workspaces and not access credentials, while still guaranteeing journalists from the excluded titles the possibility of attending press conferences and interacting with Pentagon officials.
