Hamas publishes footage of kidnapped youth. Biden notifies Israel of arms sales

Hamas released a video of 19-year-old Liri Albag, Israeli soldier hostage for over 450 days. Kidnapped on 7 October 2023 along with other soldiers, this is the first time she has appeared in a video since the beginning of her captivity. Israeli authorities confirmed that other soldiers kidnapped with Albag still remain captive.

In the meantime, the Biden administration notified Congress of a new arms deal worth $8 billion to Israel. The deal includes air-to-air missiles, ammunition, and Jdam kits, necessary for Israeli defence. The notification comes just weeks after the handover to the new Trump administration, and after PM Netanyahu’s accusations towards Biden of a tacit arms embargo.
