Ali Khamenei calls the US president’s proposal an attempt to manipulate the international community, ruling out any possibility of dialogue until sanctions are lifted

Iran has confirmed receipt of a letter from U.S. President Donald Trump addressed to Iran’s Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, urging new negotiations on Tehran’s nuclear program. Iran’s Foreign Ministry spokesman reported that the UAE’s diplomatic adviser, Anwar Gargash, personally delivered the missive to Iran’s Foreign Minister, Abbas Araghchi. The meeting between the two was broadcast on Iranian state television.

Despite the U.S. attempt to reopen the talks, Ali Khamenei strongly rejected it, calling Trump’s letter “a deception to world opinion.” The Iranian leader explained that the real intent of the U.S. president is to make Iran appear reluctant to negotiations, while Trump himself, during his first term, had torn up the previously negotiated Jcpoa agreement.

Khamenei has made it clear that there will be no dialogue until the U.S. removes the sanctions imposed against Iran, arguing that any negotiations with the current U.S. administration would only worsen the situation, further strengthening economic pressure on Tehran.

Despite his hostility toward the United States, the supreme leader reiterated that Iran seeks neither war nor the building of nuclear weapons. However, he warned that should the U.S. or its allies take wrong actions, Iran would be ready to respond decisively and assuredly.
