Hamas: ‘Door remains open’ for prisoner exchange
Islamic movement temporarily suspends release, but leaves room for negotiations: ‘Israel stops violating pacts’
Hamas has declared that ‘the door remains open’ to meet next Saturday’s deadline for a new prisoner exchange with Israel, although it has decided to temporarily suspend the release.
‘Stopping and postponing the release of the prisoners is a warning message to the occupier,’ reads a note from the movement, which says it took this decision five days before the deadline to give time for the mediators to pressure Israel to comply with the agreements.
According to Hamas, Israel has allegedly violated the pacts by delaying the return of displaced Gaza residents to the north, shooting Palestinians, and obstructing the entry of medical supplies and equipment to remove debris.
