Hamas: ‘Trump plan for Gaza blows up ceasefire agreement’
As was to be expected, Donald Trump’s Israeli-backed plan shakes up the peace agreement and stability in the region
Donald Trump’s recent announcement regarding his plan to move Palestinians out of Gaza has raised concerns among Arab mediators and angered Hamas, which views the proposal as a renunciation of the peace agreements previously brokered by the US and the Biden administration. Trump’s plan, which calls for the deportation of Palestinians and an ‘after-war’ with new territorial arrangements, has called into question the ceasefire guarantees initially offered by the US.
According to two Egyptian security sources reported by Reuters and relayed by the Times of Israel, Hamas said that in the face of this plan, the American ceasefire guarantees are no longer valid. The movement announced the postponement of the prisoner exchange, accuses Israel of violating the truce, and fears that the ceasefire agreement may be compromised.
Faced with this situation, the Arab mediators have decided to suspend the talks until a clear indication from the White House on the continuation of the agreement. The growing tension risks endangering the stability of the region and the possibility of a lasting solution.
