Israel announces total occupation of Gaza, Trump gives green light to operation
Netanyahu ready to expand military action in areas with hostages. Israeli government removes attorney general, High Court halts decision
Sources from the office of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu have stated, as reported by the Ynet website, that “the decision has been made, we will totally occupy Gaza”. The military operation will also involve areas where hostages are being held, the same sources add. “And if the IDF chief of staff doesn’t like it, he can resign,” they concluded firmly.
According to Ynet, former US President Donald Trump has also given the green light for military action against Hamas in the Gaza Strip. The United States and Israel agree that Hamas does not want a truce agreement in exchange for the release of the hostages.
The Israeli prime minister is preparing to convene the security cabinet to discuss the expansion of military operations, according to the Israeli newspaper Ha’aretz, citing a source close to the dossier. The meeting will also focus on the invasion of areas of Gaza where the hostages may be held captive.
On the domestic front, Israeli government ministers voted unanimously to remove Attorney General Gali Baharav-Miara, as announced by Justice Minister Yariv Levin, according to the Times of Israel. The government has long contested the attorney general’s actions, accusing her of blocking appointments, decisions and laws for political reasons. However, the Israeli High Court has blocked the removal decision.
