F1, Chinese GP 2025: Piastri triumphs and McLaren takes a one-two with Norris second
Australian Oscar Piastri takes his third career win and leads McLaren to a triumph in Shanghai, with Lando Norris second. Ferrari disappointing: Leclerc only fifth, behind Verstappen and Russell
Oscar Piastri dominated the 2025 Chinese Grand Prix, taking the third win of his career in a flawless race. The Australian, who started from pole position, held the lead from start to finish, guaranteeing McLaren a one-two thanks to the second place of Lando Norris, who managed a brake problem throughout the grand finale.
The Ferraris, despite a good start, were unable to escape another opaque day: Charles Leclerc finished fifth, beaten in the final by the Red Bull of Max Verstappen, who overtook the Monegasque by making the most of the hard tyres. Lewis Hamilton, in the other Ferrari, finished sixth, penalised by a two-pit stop strategy that slowed him down in the fight with Verstappen and Leclerc.
The podium was completed by George Russell in a Mercedes, third, but never able to trouble the McLarens, who ran a practically perfect race.
