Israel: Hamas senior official Salah al-Bardawil killed in air strike
Israel continues attacks in the Gaza Strip. The Israel Defence Forces intensify operations, while Britain, France and Germany call for an immediate return to a ceasefire
Salah al-Bardawil, a senior Hamas political official, was killed overnight in an Israeli airstrike in the south of the Gaza Strip. Bardawil’s killing follows that of other leaders of the terrorist group, such as Essam Addalees and Mahmoud Abu Watfa, on Tuesday. At least 19 people died in the shelling, including several women and children, according to local authorities.
The Israeli Defence Forces (IDF) have intensified their raids, hitting over 200 targets between Gaza, Lebanon and Syria. They also launched ground operations in the north of the Strip, aiming to destroy Hamas infrastructure.
Meanwhile, Britain, France and Germany issued a joint appeal for an immediate return to a ceasefire, condemning the civilian casualties and calling on the parties to resume negotiations for a permanent truce.
