North Korea accuses Washington of wanting to use nuclear weapons against it and considers the US the most dangerous enemy. Tensions between the two nations grow, with the risk of military escalation

The North Korean news agency ‘Kcna’, the official mouthpiece of Kim Jong-un’s regime, issues a new international warning: joint military exercises between the United States and South Korea could provoke the first nuclear war in history. In a statement released in recent hours, Pyongyang openly accuses Washington of carrying out ‘criminal nuclear blackmail’, pushing tensions towards an increasingly dangerous phase. According to the agency’s statement, the United States aims to ‘crush North Korea with the use of nuclear weapons’, emphasising how the American threat poses a growing danger to the security of the Asian country.

The North Korean regime does not limit itself to considering Washington as its most insidious enemy, but accuses the United States of engaging in a ‘policy of shipping nuclear weapons’ to South Korea, effectively turning South Korean territory into a strategic base for a possible nuclear attack against Pyongyang. A heavy accusation, which once again highlights the fragile geopolitical balance in the region, already the scene of continuous provocations and demonstrations of force between the great powers.
