Israel: Netanyahu assures repatriation of hostages, Hamas talks of a total exchange
Israeli PM promises return of abductees, while Hamas proposes new deal
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu declared on X that Israel will bring ‘all the abductees back home’, reiterating its commitment to the hostages’ families. Yesterday, six hostages were freed, bringing the total number of people repatriated to 192, of whom 147 are alive and 45 are dead. Netanyahu promised to return ‘the living to their families and the dead to a dignified burial’.
He did not fail to emphasise the painful memory of the murders of Shiri, Ariel and Kfir Bibas, victims whose bodies were returned by Hamas in recent days. Hamas, however, seems willing to negotiate a ‘total exchange of prisoners’ in exchange for a permanent end to the war and the reconstruction of Gaza.
