The Coast Guard confirms the death of the 10 people on board. The aircraft has been located southeast of Nome, but recovery operations remain difficult

The US Coast Guard has confirmed the discovery of the small regional aircraft that disappeared in Alaska yesterday. The aircraft was located about 34 miles southeast of Nome and, according to authorities, all 10 people on board are dead.

Search operations ended after the plane’s carcass was found. Rescuers located the bodies of three victims inside the wreckage, while the other seven people are still on board, but recovery is hampered by the condition of the craft.

‘Our deepest condolences go out to those affected by this tragic accident,’ said the Coast Guard, which also released images of the plane crash. Authorities are now assessing how to recover the remains and investigating the cause of the accident.
