The 2nd U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals upheld Donald Trump’s guilty verdict, holding him responsible for the sexual abuse of journalist Jean Carroll. The court decided that the president-elect’s legal team did not provide sufficient evidence to prove miscarriages of justice that would justify a retrial or a mistrial.
As a result, Trump was ordered to pay $5 million to Carroll as compensation for moral and psychological damages suffered. This verdict reaffirms the jury’s decision, which had already established the former president’s liability in the sexual abuse case dating back to the 1990s.
