Ukraine hits Russian airport in Taganrog with Atacms missiles
The attack caused damage to buildings and military vehicles, with casualties among base personnel. Russia threatens an immediate response
The Ukrainian armed forces carried out an air attack against a Russian military airport in Taganrog, Rostov region, today, 11 December, launching six Atacms missiles. The news was confirmed by the Russian Defence Ministry, which reported that two of the missiles were shot down and the remaining four deflected. The attack caused damage to two buildings and three military vehicles. In addition, the falling fragments of the downed missiles caused casualties among the base personnel.
The Russian Defence Ministry announced that ‘this attack with long-range Western weapons will not go unanswered’ and promised to take ‘appropriate measures’. Meanwhile, an American source quoted by Afp revealed that Russia might launch another Oreshnik missile against Ukraine in the coming days, a weapon recently tested against a military factory in Dnipro.
