President also announces 100 per cent tariffs on films shot abroad and rates Stephen Miller for national security

US President Donald Trump has announced the reopening of Alcatraz prison, a historic penitentiary located on an island off the coast of San Francisco that has been closed since 1963. ‘It will house America’s most ruthless and violent criminals,’ the president stated on his Truth Social platform, adding that the prison will be “substantially expanded” from the original facility.

The news was also confirmed by sources inside the Bureau of Prisons, who recalled how Alcatraz had been decommissioned more than sixty years ago due to excessively high running costs, later becoming a major tourist attraction.

At the same time, Trump announced his intention to impose 100 per cent tariffs on all films produced abroad to counter the phenomenon of Hollywood offshoring. ‘We want movies made in America, again!’ he wrote, calling the relocation of productions a threat to national security. The measure, he explained, will be implemented by the Department of Commerce and the US Trade Representative.

Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick confirmed the start of the work by sharing Trump’s post: ‘We are working on it’. At the moment, television series are not included in the measure.

Finally, aboard Air Force One, Trump announced he was considering Stephen Miller as the new national security adviser, a role left vacant after the removal of Mike Waltz, who was replaced on an interim basis by Secretary of State Marco Rubio. ‘I think Miller, indirectly, already has that role,’ Trump said. ‘He is highly regarded and has a lot to say about a lot of things.’
