Spokesman Peskov confirms ongoing contacts with Washington for a summit. Overnight drone raids on Moscow, Bryansk and Kaluga: no injuries or damage reported

A meeting between Russian President Vladimir Putin and US President Donald Trump ‘is necessary’. This was said by Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov at a press briefing. ‘We believe that in many ways a meeting is obviously necessary, and it is a topic on everyone’s lips,’ he said. According to Peskov, such a summit ‘must be prepared and this requires efforts at different levels of expertise’, stressing that ‘continuous contacts between Moscow and Washington are ongoing’.

The opening comes at a time of high international tension, with the United States which, under President Trump, has shown an interlocutory but firm attitude towards Russia, particularly on the Ukrainian issue.

Drone raids in the night, 26 Ukrainian aircraft shot down

In the night between Sunday and Monday, Russian Air Defence Forces intercepted and destroyed a total of 26 drones launched from Ukraine into Federation territory. This was reported by the Russian Defence Ministry on Telegram.

In particular, four drones were shot down on their way to Moscow, according to the mayor of the capital Sergei Sobyanin. The first citizen pointed out that there were no injuries or damage to structures.

The other unmanned aircraft were intercepted in neighbouring areas: 17 in the Bryansk region and five in the Kaluga region. The governors of the two regions confirmed that there were no injuries or material damage.
