Il Bayer Leverkusen fa la storia nel calcio tedesco aggiudicandosi il titolo di Bundesliga nella stagione 2023-2024, il primo nella sua lunga storia calcistica. La squadra allenata da Xabi Alonso ha interrotto l’egemonia del Bayern Monaco, che dominava il campionato da ben 11 stagioni.

La vittoria storica è stata suggellata nella 29esima giornata, quando il Bayer Leverkusen ha travolto il Werder Brema con un netto 5-0. I gol sono stati realizzati da Boniface su rigore al 25′, seguito da Xhaka al 60′, e una tripletta di Wirtz al 68′, 83′ e 90′.

Con 79 punti in classifica e ancora 5 giornate da disputare, il Leverkusen si trova in testa al campionato e rimane imbattuto. Con un vantaggio di 16 punti sul Bayern Monaco, fermo a quota 63, il titolo è ormai fuori dalla portata dei bavaresi.
