Queen Elizabeth’s corgis disputed between King Charles and his brother Andrew

The case of Queen Elizabeth’s corgis reopens the rift within the British monarchy. After stripping Prince Andrew of his royal titles and evicting him from Royal Lodge, King Charles now wants to take away Muick and Sandy, the last dogs belonging to the sovereign, entrusted to her brother upon the Queen’s death in 2022.

The reason for the dispute

The issue of Queen Elizabeth’s corgis stems from the decision to move Prince Andrew to Sandringham, far from Windsor. According to sources reported by journalist Rob Shuter, King Charles believes that his brother will no longer be able to provide adequate care for the animals. It would be even worse if they remained with Sarah Ferguson, who will not be following her ex-husband to the King’s private estate.

Charles’ irritation and Sarah Ferguson’s role

An anonymous source quoted by Shuter claims that Her Majesty the Queen “was fiercely protective of her dogs” and would never have wanted them to stay alone with Sarah. The journalist writes that the King is already considering “formal channels” to claim Queen Elizabeth’s corgis as part of the “living legacy of the Crown”.

Prince Andrew’s reaction

Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor strongly rejects the hypothesis. “He categorically rejects it,” reports the blog. Palace sources fear a far-reaching internal clash, with two corgis as the symbolic focus of the conflict. There has been no official comment from Buckingham Palace, but the tension is evident.

The future of the Queen’s last corgis

With eviction looming, the fate of Muick and Sandy remains uncertain. The case of Queen Elizabeth’s corgis adds a new chapter to the crisis between King Charles and his younger brother, making the affair not only a family matter, but an institutional one.
