Melania Trump celebrated as “Agent Trumpenko” on Ukrainian social media: ‘She is the peacemaker’
Melania Trump became a viral icon on Ukrainian social media in just a few hours after President Donald Trump, during a White House conference with NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte, attributed a key role to his wife in the change of course towards Russia.

‘I come home and say to Melania: I spoke to Vladimir today, a nice conversation. She looks at me and says: really? Another city has just been hit!'” Trump recounted, implying that the First Lady had prompted him to reconsider his position towards the Kremlin.

Patriot for Kiev and ultimatum to Moscow
After that family discussion, Trump announced the deployment of Patriot air defence systems to Ukraine, as well as a 50-day ultimatum to Moscow to reach a peace agreement. The news had a strong impact on the international media and sparked an enthusiastic reaction on the Ukrainian web, which elected Melania as a silent symbol of resistance against Putin.

The Business in Ukraine portal summed up the sentiment on the web with a clear statement: “There is a lot of love for Melania Trump tonight”, alluding to gratitude for her concrete support and alleged role of influence in her husband’s politics.

Often a reserved figure, Melania Trump now finds herself at the centre of attention, considered by many in Ukraine to be a kind of moral lever within the White House, capable of influencing presidential decisions at crucial moments.
