Fire at the luxurious Chiltern Firehouse in London: over 100 people evacuated, no injuries
A violent fire has hit one of London’s most exclusive hotels, frequented by celebrities. The intervention of the fire brigade prevented the worst
More than one hundred people were evacuated from London’s Chiltern Firehouse Hotel, an exclusive celebrity haunt located in the fashionable Marylebone district, following a violent fire that broke out this afternoon. The hotel, which used to be a fire station, has become a landmark for international stars thanks to American businessman Andre Balazs, its owner.
The intervention of the London Fire Brigade was immediate and massive: 20 fire engines and about 125 firefighters arrived at the scene of the fire to tackle the flames and secure the area.
Despite the seriousness of the event, fortunately no injuries were reported among hotel guests or staff. Entrepreneur Andre Balazs, speaking to the media, confirmed that the fire was ‘fully contained’. However, the cause of the fire still remains unknown, while the authorities continue to conduct investigations at the scene.
