Release of 90 Palestinian prisoners underway today; next deal will include four Israelis

Operations are underway to release 90 Palestinian prisoners from Ofer prison in the West Bank as part of the agreement reached between Israel and Hamas. International Red Cross teams have arrived on site to oversee the operations, while family members and supporters have gathered near the detention centre to await the release.

This first exchange is part of a broader deal that includes another release on Saturday 25 January. On that date, according to Israeli broadcaster Kan, four Israeli prisoners will be released in exchange for other Palestinian detainees.
