A 19-year-old Syrian refugee and asylum seeker was arrested last night in Berlin’s Mitte district after stabbing a Spanish tourist in the neck at the Holocaust Memorial. According to Bild, the young man was stopped by police with the knife still in his hand.
The authorities suspect that the attack may have a political motive, and are investigating thoroughly. The 19-year-old lived in a refugee centre in Leipzig, whose rooms are currently being searched by the police to gather further evidence.
