Palestinian children with cancer transferred to Italy for treatment. Expected to land at Ciampino Airport today Thursday, 13 February

On Thursday 13 February 2025, at around 19:30, a special flight is expected to land at Rome’s Ciampino Airport with a group of Palestinian children with cancer who have been evacuated from the Gaza Strip on board. The transfer, organised by the Ministry of Defence, will allow the young patients to receive treatment in Italy.

They will be welcomed by Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani, who had announced the operation during his recent visit to Ashdod, Israel.

The initiative is the result of cooperation between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Defence and the Civil Protection Department, with the support of the World Health Organisation and the European Civil Protection Mechanism. The contribution of the Egyptian Ministry of Health is also crucial. This intervention extends the humanitarian support provided by Italy to the population of Gaza as part of the ‘Food for Gaza’ project.
