Spain’s prime minister rejects claims he is undergoing medical treatment in Madrid, accusing right-wing opponents of spreading false reports about his health

Pedro Sánchez denies health rumors published by Libertad Digital, dismissing claims that he has been receiving medical treatment for months at a Madrid hospital. The Spanish prime minister responded directly on X after the report circulated and was amplified in Parliament by Popular Party lawmaker Cayetana Álvarez de Toledo.

The initial report, published by Libertad Digital, alleged that Sánchez was undergoing ongoing medical care. Álvarez de Toledo subsequently called on the government in the lower house to declassify information related to the prime minister’s health.

In his response, Sánchez rejected the allegations outright. “I do not suffer from any cardiovascular disease,” he wrote, adding that right-wing and far-right forces have been predicting the collapse of his government “since day one,” and are now resorting to spreading rumors about his health.

He noted that millions of people live normal lives with such conditions thanks to public healthcare services, which he accused his political opponents of weakening in regions governed by the Popular Party.
