What happened to Sarah Ferguson? She sought treatment at Paracelsus Recovery
The Duchess of York has been in Zurich, receiving mental health care following renewed scrutiny over the Epstein files
Questions have circulated for weeks: what happened to Sarah Ferguson, who has not been seen in public since December 12? The Duchess of York, 66, has remained largely out of sight as renewed attention focused on the Epstein scandal involving her and her former husband, Prince Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor.
According to the Daily Mail, Sarah Ferguson sought refuge in the Paracelsus Recovery clinic in Zurich, Switzerland, immediately after Christmas and stayed until the end of January. The facility, widely regarded as the most expensive wellness clinic in the world, specializes in mental health recovery programs and provides comprehensive, individualized care.
A spokesperson for Paracelsus told the media that Ferguson, a returning client, chose the clinic because “she feels at home and knows she will receive care and attention in a safe, supportive environment.” The center emphasized that its programs cater to complex mental health needs, including trauma, anxiety, depression, and burnout.
Sources cited by the tabloid report that Ferguson has faced immense stress since the release of the Epstein files by the U.S. Department of Justice, which detailed her past relationship with financier Jeffrey Epstein. The documents reportedly left her “completely devastated,” reinforcing her decision to turn to Paracelsus for support.
Ferguson has previously praised the clinic, describing her experience as a combination of professional excellence and “deep humanity.” She also disclosed having been diagnosed with post-traumatic stress disorder and attention deficit hyperactivity disorder while under treatment.
The Paracelsus approach emphasizes personalized care, with a team of at least 15 medical experts, including doctors, therapists, and nutritionists, providing one-on-one attention. The center offers clients luxury accommodations, concierge services, and fully tailored programs lasting from a few days to a full month.
While the costs are significant—up to £350,000 for a month-long residential program—the clinic confirmed that Ferguson’s stay ensured professional mental health care in a supportive environment. A source close to the Duchess added that her decision to seek treatment was motivated entirely by the desire to prioritize her well-being amidst intense public scrutiny.
