US president denies rumors of possible population displacement from Gaza Strip. Positive reactions from Hamas and the Egyptian government
Hamas and Egypt welcomed statements by U.S. President Donald Trump denying his intention to displace Palestinians from the Gaza Strip, contradicting earlier speculation. Hazem Qassem, spokesman for Hamas, called on Trump not to adopt the vision of the “extreme Zionist right,” praising the apparent change of course by the U.S. administration.
If confirmed, the denial is seen as an important sign of detente at a particularly sensitive stage for the region.
