Jannik Sinner’s historic achievement: he beats Carlos Alcaraz in the Championships final and becomes the first Italian to win the Wimbledon tournament

Jannik Sinner is the first Italian to win Wimbledon. The Italian tennis player defeated Carlos Alcaraz with a score of 4-6, 6-4, 6-4, 6-4 in the final of the 2025 edition of the prestigious London tournament, writing an indelible page in the history of Italian and world tennis.

Sinner, currently number 1 in the ATP rankings, reacted strongly after losing the first set, imposing his rhythm and solidity in the next three sets. The match, played today, Sunday 13 July, on Centre Court at the All England Club, saw the South Tyrolean grow progressively and dominate mentally at key moments.

After losing the first set 4-6, Sinner scored three identical sets, all ending 6-4, against Alcaraz, who was seeking his third consecutive Wimbledon triumph but had to yield to the determination and precision of the Italian.

With this victory, Sinner becomes the first Italian in history to win the Wimbledon tournament, completing an extraordinary season after his victory at the Australian Open.

Centre Court paid tribute to a complete champion, who combined talent, concentration and management skills at decisive moments. It is a historic day for Italy: Wimbledon finally has its first Italian winner.
