6.7 magnitude earthquake off the coast of the Moluccas: no tsunami risk

An earthquake measuring 6.7 on the Richter scale was recorded today off the coast of the Moluccas, in eastern Indonesia. The US Geological Survey (USGS) reported that the epicentre was located approximately 177 kilometres west of the city of Tual, in the province of East Moluccas, at a depth of 80 kilometres.
Despite the intensity of the earthquake, the Pacific Tsunami Warning Centre ruled out the risk of abnormal waves. At present, there are no reports of damage to people or buildings.
