Yemen group spokesman clarifies position after White House announcement: solidarity with Gaza non-negotiable

The Houthis respond to Donald Trump by clarifying the limits of their alleged ceasefire. According to a statement by Muhammad al Buhaythi, a senior official of the Yemeni movement, the group is only willing to stop attacks against US military ships if the US stops bombing Yemeni territory.

‘If Trump stops the raids in Yemen, we will suspend the attacks on US warships. But our operations against Israel will continue,’ al Buhaythi pointed out, stressing that support for Gaza is a red line for the movement.

The statement comes just hours after the US president announced from the Oval Office that the Houthis ‘had capitulated’ and that Washington would stop bombing in response. The words of al Buhaythi dampen Trump’s optimism, highlighting that the regional crisis remains unresolved, particularly on the Israeli-Palestinian front.
