Pop star Britney Spears was taken into custody Wednesday night in Ventura County on suspicion of driving under the influence, according to a report by Variety.

Authorities say Britney Spears arrested for DUI in Ventura County occurred after officers from the California Highway Patrol stopped the singer at around 9:30 p.m. local time. She was transported to a police station in the early hours of Thursday morning, arriving shortly before 3 a.m.
